A steadfast mind

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal”. (Isaiah 26:3-4).

The word of God tells us that he who has a steadfast mind will always have peace. This peace only comes when we surrender all our difficulties to the Lord in prayer, and trust that He will answer us according to his word. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7).

To keep our peace, it is necessary to put our trust in the word of God, and not to listen to the turbulent thoughts that want to control our mind. Those turbulent thoughts are not from God. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11).

As we can see, a man with a steadfast mind is a man who prays to the Lord, put his trust in Him and expect that He will answer his prayers according to His word.

Some people shout to the Lord when they are in deep distress, but as soon as they have escaped their trials, they forget about God. The one with a steadfast mind is not like this; rather he will put his trust in the Lord at all times. To have a steadfast mind is to include Jesus in every part of your life.

Those who have a steadfast mind, is not spared from trials, but they will never walk through them alone. In the middle of the storm you are confident of victory. “When you pass through waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.” (Isaiah 43:2).

Put your trust in the Lord at all times, in every circumstance. You will then experience that the Lord is your rock, and that He will never put you to shame.
